MALDONADO USES MISSION TO WIN TEXAS MASTERS Two-handed bowler - Mission is a great ball

Shawn Maldonado annihilated the competition at the Texas Masters recently using Ebonite’s latest, The Mission.

“I chose the Mission over my other equipment because it gives me a predictable read through the heads as well as down the lane,” he said. “The Mission I was throwing had 100-plus games on it and I haven’t cleaned it once. It is still trucking through the pins. It’s a great ball.”

Maldonado, 23, has been bowling since he was 2 years old using a two-handed delivery method.

“I started out throwing it two handed because the ball was too heavy,” he said. “I just kept throwing it that way as I got older. The difference between me and most other two-handed bowlers is that I do put my thumb all the way in the thumb hole.”

A Houston native, Maldonado works part time at Gary James Bowling Supplies.

Maldonado, who said the Texas Masters was bowled on a modified PBA pattern, won $2,000 plus an entry into next year’s masters, he said.
