Feb 15, 2007

HOPKINSVILLE, KY—Ebonite staff member Jason Couch has been chosen January’s Kegel Bowler of the Month by the Bowling Writers Association of America.

“Jason has been a great ambassador of our brand for over a decade and January was a particularly successful month for him,” said Ed Gallagher, Ebonite brand manager. “This recoginition is well-deserved. He earned it.”

Couch, a resident of Clermont, Fla., captured his 14th and 15th PBA career wins in January 2007, the Dick Weber Open and the Motel 6 Classic, respectively. With his win at the Weber event, his second consecutive Dick Weber Open title, he became the first No. 1 seed to win a stepladder final since February 2005. Both Couch and his opponent, Patrick Allen, came into the televised match using Ebonite’s new Total NV ball; however, Couch dominated the match and toppled PA, 258-236.

Couch faced off against Hammer’s Billy Oatman using the Black Widow ball in the final match of the Motel 6 Classic. Using the Total NV once again,  Couch clinched the win, 236-228, and became the first player since last season to win back-to-back titles within a season. He ended the month ranked first in PBA World Point Rankings.
