International Player Sets Record 1707 Score With Ebonite’s Total NV

Mar 20, 2007

HOPKINSVILLE, KY - Ebonite International staff player, Toni Laine, made history in Finland, scoring a 1707 with Ebonite’s new Total NV ball. The series (300, 300, 280, 279, 258 and 290), which has been sanctioned by the Finnish Bowling Federation, was bowled March 9 during the Mustaprossi Turnaus Tournament at Kupittaa Bowling Center in Turku.

“The ball was amazing,” said Laine. “It just matched in my hands and in that condition.”

According to Ebonite’s distributor in Finland, Pearlized Wave, Laine, who had only used his new Total NV for about a half-hour prior to this tournament, threw a total of 65 strikes and 5 spares with only one missed pin.

According to the USBC, the highest sanctioned six-game series on the books is 1659 and was bowled Dennis Sullivan in Denver, Colo., on August 10, 1995. The highest for a woman, a 1639, was thrown by Jeanne Naccarato on April 7, 1987. Although it has yet to be confirmed, Laine’s 1707 may very well be the highest series on record for a six-game series in bowling history.

The Total NV is the only ball wrapped in Ebonite’s Traxion Reactive 3.0 coverstock, a cover that has been chemically enhanced to create a texture that grips the lane tighter, thus elevating backend ball performance to new heights. Inside, the Total NV utilizes Ebonite’s new, extremely versatile Spike Symmetrical Mass Bias core, one that be asymetrical or symmetrical on the drilling side opening up yet even more performance options. The Total NV is Navy/Purple/Gold and available now in 12-16 pounds.
