Ebonite Supports Youth Bowling Through Teen Masters Sponsorship
Dec 12, 2007
HOPKINSVILLE, KY – As part of its ongoing efforts to support the development of bowling, Ebonite has signed on as a major sponsor of the Teen Masters from 2008 through 2010, announced Ed Gallagher, Ebonite brand manager.
“Youth are the foundation of our sport…and, unfortunately, the most overlooked. If, as an industry, we are going to rebuild the core of our business, it has to start with the kids,” said Gallagher. “Through Teen Masters, we have the opportunity to reach thousands of young bowlers and hopefully help them on their way in bowling.”
The Teen Masters is the creation of Killer ‘B’ Promotions. Founded in 1997, the Teen Masters consists of 50 regional events that culminate in a national championship competition. In 2007, more than 2,000 young people bowled in a Teen Masters regional event with 400 proceeding to the national tournament in Las Vegas. It is expected that participation will rise significantly in 2008 with the addition of a new team element.
“This event is more than about just bowling. We have awarded over $600,000 in college scholarship money over the past decade through the Teen Masters,” said Gary Beck of Killer ‘B’ Promotions. “Our stated objective for 2008 is to be able to award a full four-year scholarship to a young person on national television. It is a huge boost toward that goal to have the support of a company like Ebonite.”
As a sponsor, Ebonite will have a presence at all regional events and the national finals. The company is currently working on plans to activate promotions around its involvement with the Teen Masters. “This is a real win-win situation for us. We are going to get great brand exposure while also supporting youth bowling and scholarships,” added Gallagher.
Qualifying for the 2008 Teen Masters National Championships will begin the weekend of March 8-9 when the first regional qualifying event of the season is held at Beaver-Vu Bowl in suburban Dayton, Ohio. For more information on the Teen Masters, please visit www.teenmastersbowling.com.
