Ebonite International to serve as name sponsor for Lahti Open

HOPKINSVILLE, KY – Ebonite International has reached an agreement with Lahti Bowl in Lahti, Finland, to serve as the name sponsor of the 2008 Lahti Open. Scheduled for October 12-19, 2008 marks the first year of the Ebonite Lahti Open, a sanctioned stop on the European Bowling Tour (EBT), which consists of scratch tournaments held across the continent.
Mr. Jouni Helminen and Ms. Pauliina Aalto, proprietors of Lahti Bowl, are active participants in the EBT and have bowled in tournaments in most major countries on the Tour.
“Given our experience, it is only natural that we should organize and conduct our own EBT event. It’s our goal to make the Ebonite Lahti Open the best tournament in Scandinavia,” said Helminen.
The EBT sets standards for and sanctions a full schedule of scratch singles tournaments throughout Europe and the middle east. Events are either classified as Major or Challenger tournaments. The 2008 schedule currently includes 18 events from Qatar to Finland that are open to both amateur and professional bowlers. The 2008 Ebonite Lahti Open will be a Challenger event.

They are exactly the type of people with whom we wish to become associated in their first tournament venture. We hope this is the first of many tournaments to be held in Lahti in the coming years.”
