EBONITE INTERNATIONAL SIGNS NORTON TO FOUR BRAND CONTRACT

HOPKINSVILLE, KY – Ebonite International has further increased the strength of its PBA staff by signing Scott Norton, Westminster, Calif., to a staff contract. Norton, a long-time friend of teammate Missy Parkin and Columbia 300 Brand Manager Bugsy Kelly, finds the team a perfect fit.
“There were a number of motivations to join the team,” explained Norton. “I have used Ebonite International products off and on throughout my career. Bugsy was a large influence on me at the World Series of Bowling, helping me from practice day. I have known him since we were both junior bowlers, so it’s amazing to be working with him. Missy just joined the staff as well and has had great success with the equipment already. She’s a great friend, so being on the same team with her will help us to line each other up. The fact that I get to throw the four best brands in bowling doesn’t hurt, either!”
Norton, a PBA member since 2008, joined while attending law school at University of California-Hastings College of Law, and is currently a practicing lawyer at his own firm. In 2010, he won his first PBA title in Las Vegas, the Chameleon Championship, and was subsequently named 2010-11 PBA Tour Rookie of the Year.
His mother, USBC and PWBA Hall of Famer Virginia Norton, has been a crucial part of Norton’s game, helping him to prepare for this year’s World Series.
“My mother and I worked for about a month beforehand,” he said. “We worked very hard refining parts of my game that had been lagging a little, and it all seemed to fall into place at the World Series of Bowling.”
All the hard work paid off, as Norton qualified for the TV show for this year’s Chameleon Championship. His next goal is to win a Major event.
“My goals are fairly straightforward this year, and it began at the World Series of Bowling,” said Norton. “My focus has been and will be the Majors. It’s time to go to the next level and become a threat at every tournament, every time I step on the lanes. Having a Major under my belt would certainly go a long way toward this.”
According to Kelly, that’s not far off.
“Scott’s certainly a great bowler,” said Kelly. “We’re proud to have him as part of our team. Together we’ll work to help him reach his goal of winning a Major, and that starts with the right equipment in his hands.”
