EBONITE INTERNATIONAL SAYS GOODBYE TO PAST BWAA PRESIDENT JIM WYCKOFF

BWAA - James Edward (Jim) Wyckoff of Hensley, Ark. passed away October 26.  He was 83.

Jim was president of the BWAA in 1982 and founded the Southern Bowling Writers Association (SBWA) in 1972. Five years ago, SBWA had a 25th anniversary party in Reno to honor Jim as its first president and at the same time celebrated his 50th year bowling in the ABC National Championships.  Jim worked for the Arkansas Democrat Gazzette for 60 years from 1949-2009, and was the publisher of the Arkansas Bowling News for more than 20 years.

Jim Wyckoff was born in Sioux City, Iowa, and was a decorated World War II veteran who served as an expert gunner and as a military policeman.  He was a member of the Arkansas Bowling Hall of Fame and started covering bowling for the Arkansas Democrat in 1949. Jim traveled with the PBA Tour to France, Japan and all over the United States. He was a 32nd degree Mason and Shriner, and bowled with the Scimitar Shrine.

He is survived by his wife of 34 years Erva (Watson); his special stepdaughter Janet Stockton; special neighbor Joy Sills, who checked on him daily and took him for daily walks; sons James (Jimbo), Teddy and Ronald, daughter Jan, and his special family pet and companion, Sally.

Graveside services will be on Friday, Nov. 1, at 2:00 p.m. at Pinecrest Memorial Park in Alexander, Ark. Family visitation will begin at 1:30 p.m. prior to the service.
