: In the spring of 1998, at 22 yrs old, I was involved in a motorcycle accident which resulted in the amputation of my right arm. Being right handed, needless to say, it took along time to adjust to life. I had bowled right handed and was never great but hadn’t given any thought to trying left handed. Until, in 2001 I met my wife and her family were avid bowlers. She asked me to join their mixed league which I did the following year. It was quite interesting trying to relearn how to bowl. That first season I averaged 102. I finally started figuring it out and have gotten to be a pretty good bowler. When I started getting better I bought my first high performance ball, An Ebonite Infinite One which I loved and tried to find another to replace it after what must’ve been 1000 games. Of course finding another one was nearly impossible so I’ve thrown lots of other equipment since then, but none I’ve liked as much as the Infinite One. Well last season I walked into my local pro shop and was amazed to see a new old stock undrilled Big One sitting on the shelf. Having loved the Infinite One, I hoped the Big One might be what I was looking for. I had it drilled up on the spot and used it to end last season. I finished the season with a 201 average, my first plus 200 season. To start this season, having not bowled all summer, I struggled the first week and didn’t have high expectations for the second week. When the night started with a 275 I was excited to be bowling well. When it ended with a 299 and 811 series I was in awe of what I had accomplished and disappointed I had just missed getting my first 300 as well. Since then I’ve missed 300 by one pin many times with several 279 and 280 games. I never expected to get to that point when I started bowling again after my accident, using the “wrong” hand, but now I hope to get that first 300 soon and maybe add another 800 or two. Thanks to Ebonite, Bowl to Win!! Hopefully I’ll get lucky and run across an Infinite One or another Big One again.
