Ebonite

Hi All!

I need a good Symetric ball for severyly dry-very light oil lanes. All the balls I have are just to aggressive for the lanes. Any suggestions?

You could try an ebonite Gyro. It is an older urethane ball. Or if they are that dry try a plastic ball.

Someone suggested a Cyclone and I have seen several people use them with success. I guess their is oil,just depends on the lanes we get at 9p.

I purchased a Cyclone and we are more or less that 9 till close crowd after the leagues have done thier thing. The oils definately thin by the time we get there.

When I talked to the pro shop folks this was one of the reasons that particular ball was suggested. I was just getting back into bowling and wanted something in addition to the plastic ball I've had forever. I'm also just learning how to hook the ball and throw a bit more aggressively but needed a ball that wasn't too aggressive and good for use on lanes that have been bowled on alot.

Haven't regretted it. Give it a shot. They are priced right and worst case I'm sure you can sell or trade it for something else if it just doesn't work out for you.

I am goning to give my 300C another try and if I still have problems then new ball here I come.

After returning from Nationals:
I had Kyle in the Ebonite booth drill me up a 300T
I did not have great success with the 300c as it was great one game and not the next
The 300T has a different cover.

I shot 300 with it last night and it is awesome!
easy length and very predictable

depends alot on how you drill it and I did polish it.
Old wood lanes, left side
375 rpm
16.5 mph
medium to medium-high track

Highly recommend this ball, also you will need someone who knows your style and your house so they can properly drill it for you

Some guys here are having success with the cyclones, but they are speed dominant

I personally have the Silver Recon at OOB finish pin above middle finger specifically for these type of conditions. I am currently using it on the Team USA Bejing pattern (short oil 35 FT.) and it is working pretty well. So I would personally say your layout isnt right on this ball because it shouldnt be rolling so early.

well, I just drilled a 300a with a 2" pin-pap
just for the dry old wood lanes and its AWESOME
worked pretty well on a 37' sport pattern we are on right now as well.
perfect, clean push through the front part of lane and nice, even move to the pocket
carry is really good

So, yes, you can use a pin down piece for the dry house shot
It's a bit of trick drilling in my opinion, but its phenomenal

And I will qualify this post with the fact that Mitch Beasley did the layout personally
He used this layout on his 300a
