Need help with selecting a new bowling ball

Post Need help with selecting a new bowling ball
I've averaged about a 187 for the last 8 years using a 14 pound particle ball.
I only pick up the 10 pin (right handed) about 33% of my tries. I don't have a 'spare' ball.
I only throw the ball around 14 MPH and am over 50.
I was considering a C-system ball, but my friend pointed out that I probably would have a hard time keeping it on the right side of the head pin. I'm also considering a Mission 2.
I wasn't sure if going back to a 15 lb. ball would be wise at this point.
I am also going to get a spare ball.
I usually line up my left foot with the middle dot and throw over the 8-10 board for my strike ball.
I leave a lot of soft 10 pins.
What would someone recommend for me?

Hi Dug, First question I have to ask is this. Does a 15 lb. ball seem to heavy for you? Why did you drop to a 14 lb. ball. If a 15 doesn't bother you go with a 15 as long as you do not loose any speed on the ball. As far as what Ball to recommend I would have to say by what you are decribing about your game Ebonite Game Changer or an Ebonite Signals would be a good choice.

The Signals is a Pearl cover and the GaneChanger is a solid cover stock. You didn't mention what type of oil condition you bowl on so I gave you too choices. Either ball sounds like it would work for you.

Thanks for the reply.
I switched from a 16 lb. ball to a 14 lb. ball 8 years ago, because I was told the particle ball had the same striking power for a 14 lb. as it would at 16 lb and that I would have better control. I switched from a 'cheap' ball from a sporting goods store that I can't reember the name of. At first the weight change felt good and I didn't drop it and had a good roll. Now 14 seems heavy, but I was also told that the particle ball wasn't drilled properly (reverse something was off significantly), and the span didn't alow my thumb to be fully inserted, so that's why the possibility of getting a 15 lb. ball is being considered.

I had about a 20 year gap in bowling in leagues until the last 8 years and am just begining to learn about the oil patterns.

Typically our lanes aren't heavily oiled, and typically by the 3rd game they are drying out and I am moving left and trying to add speed, but usually end up with a high hit or an altered roll.
