Ebonite International is the proud sponsor of the Senior All-Star Bowling Association (SASBA).
The Senior All-Star Bowling Association, whose tour season is from December to November, began under the direction of Jamie Brooks in 1990. Brooks, former owner of 40 bowling centers and current owner of Diamond Lanes in Odessa, Texas, said the tour, under its new name: The Ebonite Senior Tour, is anticipating a great step forward for its members.
The Ebonite Senior Tour, formerly known as SASBA, is a non-profit corporation owned by its members, formed to conduct scratch bowling tournaments for bowlers fifty and older, to promote the sport of bowling, and to aid its sponsors in promoting their businesses. SASBA's first tournament was in Rosenberg, Texas, April 1990 with 33 entrants. Since that first tournament, over twelve years ago, there have been more than 300 events, which are now averaging more than 100 entries each. The membership has swelled to over 600 bowlers from 23 states.
The Ebonite Senior Tour is divided regionally by the Mason-Dixon Line and has hosted over 300 tournaments in twelve years. Members join the association for a one-time $60.00 membership fee and a $30.00 annual renewal fee. Bowlers, male or female over the age of 50, are encouraged to join the ranks of arguably the best senior bowlers of all-time. Members include a number of former PBA tour members, Hall of Fame bowlers and bowling center and pro shop owners such as Bob McGregor, George Pappas, Gary Dickinson, Dave Soutar, and Avery Le Blanc.
In addition to being the tour's primary sponsor, Ebonite hosted the Ebonite SASBA Firecracker 5000 Player's Championship over the week of July 4 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. |
